Konstantin Kostin on advantages which will help Andrey Vorobyov win September Moscow Region elections
‘The whole point is that right now there is no candidate who could really stand successfully against Andrey Vorobyov and United Russia because he has behind him a great scale of experience, resources and a real knowledge of working in the field’ Konstantin Kostin told a correspondent from Regnum News Agency on 23rd January. He was commenting on the possibility of a second round in the governor’s elections in the Moscow suburbs which has been reported in the press.
According to Kostin, Vorbyov has the following three advantages which will help him win at the September elections. Firstly, it was the President himself who appointed him as the acting head of the region and this approbation from the Head of State gives him a great deal of authority and credibility. Secondly Shoigu (the recently appointed Minister of Defense and a General in the Russian Army) remains very popular in the Moscow region. Thirdly, the steps already taken by Vorobyov show him to be a man who will get things done and people like this. Moreover he has a positive image – young, energetic, honest and he doesn’t try and side-step difficult questions.
